Sec. 13.1011. REQUIRED REGISTRATION

(a) A person who operates a weighing or measuring device for a commercial transaction shall register annually with the department.
(b) The department shall establish a system of annual registration and may provide for staggered year-round registration.
(c) If a person fails to register as required by this section and pay the fee required under Section 13.1151, the department may assess a late fee against the person, prohibit the operation of the weighing or measuring device, or both assess the fee and prohibit the operation of the device.
(d) The department shall adopt rules for the administration of this section and Section 13.1151 of this code.
